A bit of workshop in glorious Panoramaaaaaa!

Type 13 Bugatti Brescia

We have recently commenced on another Bugatti Brescia restoration. A complete set of original mechanical parts are being restored, a new body created and a new crankcase fitted.

Fat Man

Only the people of 1920's France could conceive an air compressor mounted by an overweight, goggled, smoking man.

Works Motorcycle-ish. 1923 Alcyon Sportif.

This contraption recently found a home here. Thus far it has proved to be of absolutely no use at all, but just look at it! The works lad has spent many an hour toiling over the pedals trying to make the thing start but (luckily for him) the 100cc JAP engine has yet to properly realise it's full potential.

Bugatti

We have just finished a complete, sympathetic restoration of this short chassis Bugatti Brescia. Here it is looking like it's in the 1920's again!

Lombard

The French manufacturer Lombard built a small number of cars during the companies brief life (1927-1929). These cars were successful on the track and were fitted with a sophisticated, twin overhead camshaft engine of Lombard's own design. The company only produced one coupe which was discovered in the 1950's without it's roof and with a much modified rear half to the body. We were fortunate to be given the task of recreating the coupe bodywork working from the only three photographs known to exist of the original car.

The car soon after construction 1927.
As discovered in the 1950's.
Panelling of the rear half and roof. Fortunately the bonnet, scuttle and screen had survived the chop!

New valances, complete with vents as shown on the original photographs.

Panels completed and awaiting paint.

First public outing in coupe form since the 1930's!

Twin camshaft, 1100cc masterpiece.

Mors to Montlhery

Every two years the wonderful Montlhery motor circuit situated just South of Paris is opened for the type of vehicle which would have used the track during it's golden years of the 1920's.

For the 2013 event we were asked to recommission the 1907 Mors which is powered by a 1916 Curtiss aircraft engine of 8.2 litre capacity. This rather involved task included, amongst others, remaking the mid-mounted radiator.

Other important work included the addition of sharks teeth!
And a little test driving, before departing for the ferry to France.

Spark plug change outside Versailles.

And two glorious days spent circulating this historic track.

Nanette

My attention has been brought to a small piece and photographs of Nanette in an article about Brooklands on the Speedhunters website today. Not a website I browse everyday (although maybe I should) - there's a lot of large alloys and spoilers, but good to know they appreciate a bit of heritage too! Here it is:
